I make one-of-a-kind artwork from reclaimed wood, firewood, and other wooden species that find their way into my shop. I use carving, burning, color, and texture to bring out the character that’s already hiding in the wood.
I usually start with an idea or theme, but I don’t know exactly where the piece will end up. The grain, knots, cracks, shapes, and the carving process all have a say. Sometimes the wood changes the idea entirely—and that’s usually when things get interesting.
