Wooden bowls & vases

Hand-carved and fire-burnt wooden bowl using the Japanese wood burning technique yakisugi or shou sugi ban

My wooden bowls and vases are functional pieces, decorative objects, and small works of art all at once. Some are shaped by traditional forms, while others take a more unusual or playful direction. From organic sculptural bowls to woodburned vases and one-of-a-kind vessels, each piece is made by hand here in Kansas City and designed to highlight the natural beauty of the wood while adding a little personality.

Because every piece begins with different wood and a different idea, no two are exactly alike. I’m always experimenting with new carving and burning techniques, exploring how far I can take a simple piece of wood. If you have an idea for a custom bowl, vase, or sculptural vessel, I’d love to hear it.
