Kansas City Art

Kansas city wooden ornaments Chiefs and Taylor Swift
How about them Chiefs (and Tay)?

Kansas City is home, and naturally, it finds its way into my work. I create one-of-a-kind wooden art, gifts, signs, ornaments, and other pieces inspired by Kansas City places, people, teams, neighborhoods.

Some pieces are playful and familiar—because yes, how about them Chiefs (and Tay)? Others are more persona & nostalgic. I like taking recognizable local ideas and translating them into something made by hand, using wood, carving, burning, engraving, and whatever the material and process call for.

I’m continually exploring new ways to capture the character of Kansas City in wood. That might mean a small ornament inspired by a local landmark, a piece of wall art celebrating a favorite team, a personalized gift connected to a Kansas City memory, or something completely new that starts with an idea I haven’t tried before.

You’ll find some of my Kansas City creations in my shop, but the shop is only part of the story. I’m also open to custom Kansas City commissions. If you have an idea for a neighborhood, landmark, business, event, family, sports connection, or just something that reminds you of home, let’s see what we can make from it.

Although Kansas City is a big source of inspiration, the idea doesn’t have to stop here. I’ve created work connected to places and communities beyond Kansas City, and I’m interested in exploring projects for other cities, sports teams, clubs, landmarks, and local organizations.

The challenge is not simply putting a name or logo on a piece of wood. I want to understand what makes a place or community distinctive and find a way to translate that feeling into the work.

Already have something specific in mind? Tell me about it. I’m open to one-of-a-kind commissions and unusual ideas, and I’ll work with you to figure out what makes sense for the material, the design, and the finished piece.
