Custom wood carving

Some ideas need more than a machine or a template. I create custom wood carvings in Kansas City for projects that call for something truly one-of-a-kind: from large-scale pieces and totem poles to relief carvings, sculptures, portraits, symbols, and unusual ideas that don’t fit neatly into a category. Each project starts with your vision and develops through the natural character of the wood, the design, and the carving process.

I work with the shape, grain, knots, and imperfections of the material rather than trying to hide them. Depending on the project, I may combine hand and power carving, wood burning, color, and other techniques to create depth and personality. The goal isn’t simply to reproduce an image in wood, but to create a finished piece that feels like it belongs there.
